In my arrogance the other day, I felt secure in what I can do during this time of challenge on our dear little planet. Stand steady, remember that we are all beings of Light, radiate that Light and build our bonds of Love. I threw into this mix sharing objective facts which could simply be one way of balancing the bigoted vitriol being poured all around.
Within a couple of days it became painfully clear that this is more easily said than done when I’m personally faced with this kind of thinking and attitude. Honestly, I am very disappointed in myself for even temporarily being caught up the swirl of this. What I find most difficult is that in the process I find myself cast in the role of the polar opposite position and of being naive and uninformed. I don’t have the opportunity to even explore the points there may be in common. And frankly, I’m not at my best when I feel attacked. In search of a way out of this state, my meditation has brought me to reflect once more on some of what I believe and hold dear.
First is that I believe we are all one organism in the body of the Divine. A Unity. A Oneness. And individually, Beings of Light. We incarnated for a purpose which we seek to discover/understand and express. Sometimes we forget all this temporarily or for a whole life time. Where life takes us, provides the opportunity for gaining self knowledge and unfoldling of our true self; expanding of our consciousness, our awareness; and serving humanity to the best of our ability.
I’m not in agreement of war as a solution to violence. I do have concerns about safety and dangers we face. And maybe for this moment, it takes those who think and feel like the terrorists to deal with them. I admit that I do not like that thought. Just thinking about it. Still though, not war.
On another note, let us realize that we are co-creators of what evolves and have the reponsibility to hold a vision of the possible; ways to address the underlying causes of violence and terrorism; long term ways to improve the conditions which drive people to violence. And please, let us not go blaming the religion of the ‘other’. There has been enough beheading, torture and violence in the history of most religions. All too long to expand on here.
Long term too of course we have to vote into office, on all levels, people who are themselves balanced, informed, intelligent and oriented to the good of all, everywhere. Who are interested in engaging open mindedly with all citizens and not simply insist on converting everyone to their view.
The most important to me is remembering that everythilng I think, say and do has an effect on the whole web of life. In this field of Divine Love which connects us all, we have tremendous opportunity to amplify the frequency of any particular energy. We do this by how we relate to everyone in our lives, those we meet on the street, those we think about. This includes realizing the energy of hate, bigotry, jealousy, fear, violance can also be strengthened by us. And those who are damaged beings and wish to harm others, want us to feel this way and use these tactics for their own perverted ends. However, we do have antitodes to this.
One of them is this. We strengthen the energy of Love in the field which connects all of us, everywhere. Remember that the magnetic field of the heart is 5000 times stronger than the brain and travels over time and space, long distances. That it has its own Intelligence and has functions independent of the brain. It is much more than a pump. This is research established not conjecture. If you are interested in more depth about this read Gregg Braden’s book called The Resilience from the Heart – the Power to Thrive in Life’s Extremes. In it he describes one simple process I want to share for opening the connection between the brain and the heart. I then see this as a way of connecting to the greater field and radiating love, the coherent energy of the heart. In this way counterbalancing the destructive forces.
The process is simply this (on p 29 of his book). Sit quietly, “shift your focus into the area of your heart, and begin to breathe a little more slowly than usual, as if your breath is coming from your heart”. Then ” Activate a positive feeling. Make a sincere attempt to experience a regenerative feeling such as appreciation or care for someone or something in your life. The key in this step is to first create the feeling to the best of your ability, and then to embrace the feeling, again to the best of your ability. Your ability to sustain the feeling is what maintains the optimal conversation between your heart and brain”. Achieving this quick coherence then creates an opportunity for conscioulsy radiating the energy into the field. There is so much more to all this and is simply my application to what I’m dealing with at the moment.
I appreciate the chance to express these random thoughts and reminders which simply did not want to leave me. I trust that more calm and peace will be with me now.
And so I come full circle, adding this practice to what made sense to me a couple days ago. I know more needs doing but please let us not underestimate the power of the energy of Love. This we CAN do.
